a walk in the rain /continuing actionlab corrections & parade 48 with a trip to alamosa at 4 this afternoon / look ma, no glove! / by Philip Tarlow

3:27 pm: slowly, slowly. σιγα-σιγα i am moving forward with this one, a delicate and at the same time bold painting of visitors to the acropolis museum in athens, with it's transparent floor. but remember, this is not a painting of the acropolis museum interior. on the right, a detail. BELOW: the painting as it looked at the end of my painting day today.

as magritte famously said, "ceci nest pas une pipe!!" (title of a famous magritte painting of a pipe) these are marks on a surface; informed marks loaded with gestural panache.  so now we're off to alamosa for a makers space meeting.

9:54 am: this morning it was raining, which is rare for crestone. we decided to take our 5:30 am walk anyway, and it was great. we got wet. so what?

DETAIL of parade 48

i'm running a tad late this morning; currently starting my actionlab corrections for this morning before heading out to the P.O. and the studio to continue work on parade 48. BELOW: how it looked at the end of my painting day yesterday. and on the right, a detail of the lower left quadrant.

today was the first day in almost 3 weeks that i was able to shower without the latex glove i've been putting on to protect my still-healing trigger finger surgery scar. i had the stitches out last friday, had to protect it 2 more days, then this morning....a shower sans glove. might not sound like much, but it was a huge relief.
