tomorrow an event is being organized for dave, our ups delivery guy, who is retiring after 38 years with ups. (see photo below right) the photo i took of him may become a little portrait.
this is our gift to him. his gift to me was to get me to break out my gouache colors after all this time and paint something in my favorite medium.
this little gouache contains much of what i've learned over the past few years, both from ancient chinese calligraphers and from intentionally working more loosely and gesturally.
dave is one of a kind. his sweetness, aliveness and stunning presence has made an entire community fall in love with him.
