they are getting bolder. i've been looking at a catalogue i have of the 1980 picasso retrospective at moma. specifically, at his studies for les demoiselles d'avignon, one of the greatest 20th c. paintings. we were able to see some of his preparatory drawing a few years ago at a guggenheim exhibition of his drawings from his childhood to his death. and then the was the gagosian show of his late work, where we spotted john richardson, author of the 3 volume biography.
