although avigdor believed strongly, in the second half of his career, in painting strictly from life, and the paintings in my parade series are all created using photos, nonetheless i feel a strong connection to him, to his spirit, he was with marlborough during the period, in the '80's when i was at fischbach, just a few doors away. i always went to his shows and studied and enjoyed his work. i felt a kinship from the moment i discovered his work.
i'm expecting the new roll of artfix linen to arrive next week, when i'll begin the process of stretching larger canvases in order to embark on the adventure of making 5x5 and 6x6 foot versions of the parade series.
this morning i began parade 17. below is the current state of the painting, with a detail of the figures. it will change dramatically as it progresses. it's 12:50 & i haven't eaten, so i'll take a brunch break while i consider my next moves.
