10/26/14 back to the creek / by Philip Tarlow

6:11 pm:  just back from the creek. the painting is below,. 2nd row right: look how close to the creek the rear leg of my easel is. it's resting on unstable mossy grasses, so it's tricky to not have it tip over as it did last week.

including the leaves is risky and edges it towards the descriptive, which is not where i'm at right now.

i've been preparing for some actionlab360 meetings we have coming up this week. i'm about to stretch a 16x16" canvas in preparation for plein air painting at the creek in a few hours. the weather is beginning to turn and there's more wind. but i think it should be ok. i'm planning on searching for a new spot, which can give me a fresh perspective. i'll publish pics when i'm back, this evening.

below: a 10x29" study in egg tempera on board for a 6 foot wide commission i did in 1977 for the ferry boat chrisi ammos. the painting was commissioned by the owner, avgoustis polemis. the andros landscape is of stavropeda, located between the capitol, chora and the port of gavrion.
